The Finest Teamwork
I started this morning the same way I do each morning, by jumping into our MailTank and clearing out all of the support issues that came in during the night. Loads from Britain today - which makes sense - peppered with the normal early risers from New York. It went quickly despite the incredible difference between last week and this week.
You see, this week there are people floating over my head. And I don’t mean little winged babies with harps or anything - I mean 217 miles over all of our heads falling alongside the international space station. It is all being broadcast live on NASA TV and I have it playing in the background as I support customers on the other side of the world. Judging by where the daylight falls on NASA’S map, I thought I might get to see Great Britain from above, but no such luck.
The footage is breathtaking. It is so exciting to see the world we live in from their point of view. And you can hear the incredible teamwork taking place as the stations on the ground carefully guide the astronauts through each individual step so far above. It is the finest teamwork anywhere. The MailTank helps teams work together too, by organizing customer email for groups within a business so they can provide a higher level of customer service faster and with equipment they already own. The members of each group can see all the email intended for them, as well as email from any other team they are granted access to inside the business. Individuals can add notes, assign messages inside their group and transfer email across to other teams. It is not exactly like trying to walk a spaceman back inside an airlock after 6 hours of deliberate concentrated work. But down here on Earth it helps improve communication by 217 miles.
I remember when they launched the Hubble telescope and I hate to admit I paid it little attention. But then I saw the Deep Field and my interest changed. They say the space station should be completed by 2010 - only three years from now. I can’t wait to see what we get back from the folks working up there. And it would be beyond my wildest dreams if the teams on the ground and the teams in the sky used the MailTank to organize and archive the email exchanges between them. But you don’t have to wait til 2010 to get started using the MailTank to improve customer service at your business. Why not swing by MailTank and check out the new website we hung up. And keep watching the skies.
